From the original listing
Following a celebrated run that has earned her a spot on the Polaris Music Prize Long List and two ADISQ Félix Awards, Quebec-based Atikamekw singer-songwriter Laura Niquay is gearing up to release her third studio album, Nir Wactenama, on November 6 via Musique Nomade. Sung entirely in Atikamekw, the album finds Niquay moving further into rock and blues alongside her all-female band, exploring family, resilience, identity, healing and Indigenous women’s strength.
